Description

The European Labour Authority, in partnership with the Confederation of Organisations in Road Transport Enforcement (CORTE), has launched the second edition of its EU and EEA-wide training and information programme on social legislation in road transport

The programme offers on-site training sessions for national enforcement authorities across the EU and EEA to promote a common and consistent approach to enforcing the Mobility Package I.

To foster cooperation between national enforcement authorities, each session targets a group of countries. The first training session took place in Lyon, France, on 2 and 3 April, dedicated to the first group of countries composed by Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, Spain and Portugal. It gathered 72 participants on-site and 700 joined online.

The training aimed to promote a common and consistent approach to enforcing the Mobility Package I. Focusing on passenger transport, it covered:

  • driving and rest time rules, including updates for occasional passenger transport,
  • posting of drivers in passenger transport,
  • obligations for light commercial vehicles and their drivers.

While legislative updates have been addressed, a key focus was on practical enforcement. Building on the 2024 edition, this session included:

  • new enforcement practices using digital tools,
  • hands-on exercises with real inspection data and documents,
  • guidance on how to access, analyse and interpret information collected during roadside checks.
