The Executive Director of ELA is the legal representative of the authority and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation and the implementation of decisions adopted by the Management Board, and implementation of ELA’s work programme. The Executive Director is supported by the Heads of Units and the other members of ELA staff.
Since December 2020, ELA’s Executive Director is Cosmin Boiangiu.
Ambassador Cosmin Boiangiu is the Executive Director of the European Labour Authority. He has served as a career diplomat for the Romanian Foreign Affairs ministry since 1996. From April 2016 to December 2020, he served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Romania to the European Union and as the Representative to the Committee of Permanent Representatives I (COREPER I). Mr Boiangiu was the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Slovenia from 2012 to 2016. He has also represented Romania at the United Nations and NATO. Mr Boiangiu has received several awards for his diplomatic contributions and holds a PhD in Economics of climate change.
