Description

The bilateral meeting between Cyprus and Bulgaria aimed to enhance communication and cooperation in social security coordination. Representatives from the social security authorities of both Member States and their national SOLVIT centers attended the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to address recurrent issues in the exchange of information concerning the confirmation of insurance periods for Bulgarian citizens from Cyprus. Key topics discussed included issues related to unemployment benefits, particularly the U1 document and its application under Article 65 of Regulation 883/2004 and Article 70 of Regulation 987/2009.

The meeting tackled the challenges faced by both Member States, with a special focus on procedural discrepancies and the necessity for timely information exchange. This constructive dialogue led to the proposal of potential solutions to past issues, with both delegations committing to continued discussions and further review of the points raised.

This event underscored the ongoing commitment of Cyprus and Bulgaria to ensure the protection of social security rights and fair labour mobility for their citizens.
