The European Labour Authority (ELA) aim is to ensure that EU rules on labour mobility and social security coordination are enforced in a fair, simple and effective way and to make it easier for citizens and businesses to reap the benefits of the internal market.

Tom Bevers, Member from Belgium, and Agnieszka Wołoszyn from Poland have been elected as Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson respectively of the Management Board of the European Labour Authority.

The European Labour Authority starts its activities today with an inaugural ceremony and the first meeting of its Management Board.

Ahead of the Council meeting on Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumers on 13 June 2019 in which Ministers formally adopted the Regulation establishing the European Labour Authority, EU Member States also decided to select Bratislava as the seat of the ELA. In the start-up phase, the Commission will host the ELA in its premises in Brussels, until Slovakia will be ready to welcome ELA in Bratislava.
